I have read three excellent books this year that involve Russia: The Huntress, We Were The Lucky Ones, and Cilka’s Journey. I highly recommend any of these for a book club discussion.
When my book club PALS read A Gentleman in Moscow, our hostess Barbara prepared Borscht. I have never been a big fan of beets, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Borscht.

This Borscht recipe looks amazing. Check out Natasha’s Kitchen for the full recipe.
And of course, the perfect cocktail would be a White Russian.
White Russian
2 ounces KAHLÚA
1 ounce Vodka
1 ounce Heavy Cream
Pour the Kahlua and Vodka into an ice filled old fashioned glass, and stir. Float cream on top.
For a festive garnish add a toasted marshmellow on a toothpick across the top of the glass.
