In the novel The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek there is mention of the Pie Bake Dance held the first Friday in June. This was a pie auction to hitch unmarried folk. Single women would bring a pie that would then be auctioned off. The highest bidder then had the right to dance with the pie baker the rest of the evening.
I think this Kentucky Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie would be a great hit at an auction, bake sale, book club meetings, or for any holiday party. It is packed with toasted pecans, bittersweet chocolate, and a filling made with Kentucky Bourbon. It is fantastic with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and of course, a little bourbon in your teacup!
