While I gave up reading the novel Truly Devious, I did not give up on making a Vermont themed recipe. And what is the best thing to ever come out of Vermont? Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream!!! (I hope you didn’t guess maple syrup).

I absolutely love my Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book. If you enjoy making homemade ice cream, you need to buy this book! I imagine some things have changed at B&J’s since this was published in 1987, but I still love these classic flavors. One of my favorites is Cherry Garcia. The name “Cherry Garcia” was suggested to Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc. by a couple of Dead Heads in Maine. According to the recipe book, Jerry Garcia (RIP) loved the ice cream. His family members are now the owners of the registered trademark for Cherry Garcia.
The best thing about this homemade recipe is that it makes one “grateful” quart, which is so much better than those tiny (single serving) pints from the grocery store.
